CARICC – IS A STANDING INTERGOVERNMENTAL BODY TO COORDINATE EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL DRUG-RELATED CRIME

Regional Working Group on Forensic Capacity and Drugs

In April of 23-24, 2015The first “Regional Working Group on Forensic Capacity and Drugs” meeting was organized under the frameworks of the UNODC Regional Programme (SP1) for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries and hosted by the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC). This initiative is undertaken under the auspices of the Regional Working Group on Precursors.

RWGFD was established with cooperation of state members of regional programme, inter alia, Afghanistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Also, RWGFD is aimed on enhancing of medical laboratory capacity, creating work relationships between employees of forensic  expertise  and investigative divisions of anti-narcotic divisions, planning of strategic priorities,   and further provisions of recommendations to the the Steering committee on regional programmes.

CARICC - Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, established within the Memorandum of Understanding on sub-regional drug control cooperation dated May 4 1996 (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
