CARICC – IS A STANDING INTERGOVERNMENTAL BODY TO COORDINATE EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL DRUG-RELATED CRIME

Concerning the U.S. DEA advanced training course “collection and analysis of information”

During the period from 22 to 26 February 2016,  the U.S. DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) in the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty) delivered an advanced training course “Collection and Analysis of Information” for the staff of the CARICC 1st and 2nd  divisions.

 

Thomas Golden, Roger Hufford, Gordon Taylor, Philip Lasker, senior inspectors of the U.S. DEA global training team, and Charles Barnes, analyst of the U.S .DEA Office in Kazakhstan, were invited  as  trainers for  this course.

The course covered the following topics:

- history, mission and objectives of the U.S. DEA to combat drug trafficking; 

- analysis of information; 

- preparation of analytical reports; 

- review of the intelligence; 

- strategic analysis of statistical data; 

- critical thinking; 

- processing of informational documents; 

- relationships diagram technique;

- analysis of telecommunications and telephone conversations; 

- international controlled deliveries / planning; 

- work with open sources;

It should be noted that the main focus  was on such topics as the analysis of information and implementation of international controlled deliveries involving informants. 

Instructors also conducted practical classes on the above topics in groups. 

At the end of the training course, trainees gave positive evaluation to the U.S. DEA instructors.
