CARICC – IS A STANDING INTERGOVERNMENTAL BODY TO COORDINATE EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL DRUG-RELATED CRIME

Concerning implementation of the preventive operation ‘Koknar-2016’

On the 1st of June 2016, representatives of CARICC participated in a briefing in Shu, Zhambyl region, to implement preventive operation ‘Koknar-2016’, organized by the Counter-Narcotics Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Representatives of the National Security Committee, the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance, the Akimat of Zhambyl region, heads of the territorial counter-narcotics units, officers of task force units of law enforcement bodies and military men of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the opening of preventive operation ‘Koknar-2016’.

It should be noted that in order to combat drug-related crime, a preventive operation ‘Koknar-2016’ is held every year from June to October during the period of growth and maturation of wild narcotic plants. The entire existing capacities and material and technical resources of the internal affairs are involved in the operation to ensure its maximum effectiveness.
