CARICC – IS A STANDING INTERGOVERNMENTAL BODY TO COORDINATE EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL DRUG-RELATED CRIME

NATIONAL TRAINING FOR OFFICERS OF THE BORDER LIAISON OFFICES

On the 7th to 12th of November 2016, as part of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Project XAC K22 “Counteracting Opiates Traffic from Afghanistan along the ‘Northern’ route by strengthening capacities of key checkpoints (CHP) and establishment of border liaison offices (BLOs)”, a national training course for officers of border liaison offices was organized and conducted in the facilities of the Academy of Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The aim of the training was to provide intensive training to the task force in combating transnational drug-related crime.
CARICC officers were involved in this event as instructors, and presented information regarding the emerging drug situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Central Asian states.
In addition, the issues of illicit trafficking of amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) and the new psychoactive substances (NPS), as well as precursor chemicals designed for the production of narcotic drugs in Afghanistan were addressed during training course.

CARICC - Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, established within the Memorandum of Understanding on sub-regional drug control cooperation dated May 4 1996 (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
