CARICC – IS A STANDING INTERGOVERNMENTAL BODY TO COORDINATE EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL DRUG-RELATED CRIME

Meeting of the Regional Working Group on Forensic and Drugs (RWGFD)

On the 9-10th of November 2016, CARICC hosted a meeting of the Regional Working Group on Forensic and Drugs (RWGFD) under the UNODC Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the UNODC, CARICC and Joint Planning Cell (JPC).

During the above event, participants discussed the situation in the field of illicit trafficking of new psychoactive substances in these countries, practical issues of cooperation. Following the meeting, participants made recommendations on further expansion of regional cooperation among the law enforcement agencies and forensic authorities.

CARICC - Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, established within the Memorandum of Understanding on sub-regional drug control cooperation dated May 4 1996 (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
