CARICC – IS A STANDING INTERGOVERNMENTAL BODY TO COORDINATE EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL DRUG-RELATED CRIME

THE DELEGATION OF THE SUPREME PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF SOUTH KOREA VISITED CARICC

On the 18th of November 2016, delegation of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office of South Korea led by Mr. Minpyu Park, CEO of Office of Violent Crimes of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, visited CARICC.
During the meeting, Mr. B.M. Zhunusov, Director of CARICC, gave a high appraisal of the counter-narcotics system functioning in South Korea, especially in terms of implementing preventive measures among the youth. From his side, Mr. Minpyu Park expressed the willingness of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office of South Korea to develop ties with CARICC, including through APICC (Asia-Pacific Regional Information Coordination Center to combat crime in the sphere of drug trafficking).
The Parties confirmed their intention to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between CARICC and APICC, to support mutual efforts to establish fruitful relations among CARICC member-states and APICC in the fight against drugs.

CARICC - Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, established within the Memorandum of Understanding on sub-regional drug control cooperation dated May 4 1996 (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
